Day 1 of the Panchadasi Talks
Guruji's visit to Bahrain was filled with wonderful memories and some very interesting discourses where he summarized the concepts of Vidyaranya's Panchadasi in very simple and lucid language.

Each day of Guruji's satsangh included a meditation and visualization session that helped to clear the cluttered mind from various day to day hassles and make it receptive to the knowledge of the reality.

Guruji's lectures were full of day to day examples and his sessions had even the very young members of audience laughing with delight and captivated enough to not move an inch!

For the sake of our overseas satsanghis who have missed this memorable opportunity, Paramji has diligently converted the talks to MP3 format and made it available immediately after Guruji's visit.

CHAPTER 01
SHLOKA
1. salutations to Guru, who removes darkness, phenomenal world
2. easy understanding of students !

CONSCIOUSNESS, SAT AND CHIT NATURE
3. waking state objects differ, not Conscience
4. dream state same
5. deep sleep lack of memory is observed
6. C is homogeneous always existing , always aware
7. same all yrs past future

BLISS NATURE
8. C is our self, of supreme bliss. We love self more than our body
9. others are loved for self
10. highest bliss; similar to supreme
11. known, yet not having highest love

OBSTRUCTION TO KNOWLEDGE
12. son chanting veda
13. objects exist, reveal; obstruction stultifies
14. contrary experience is avidya, beginningless

MAYA, ISHWAR, JIVA, AVIDYA
15. Reflection of Brahman in prakriti
16. Pure prakriti is Maya and reflection is Ishwar; impure is avidya, and Jiva

PRAAJNA
17. Avidya causal body; Jiva is praajna

SUBTLE BODY
18. 5 subtle Elements Ether Air, Fire, Water, Earth
19. 5 subtle sensory organs Hear, Taste, See, Touch, Smell
20. from combination anathakarana = mind and buddhi
21. from Rajas portion came organs of action SHFSG
22. 5 subtle Els vital airs
23. 17 subtle form subtle body

TAIJASA, HIRANAYA GARBHA
24. Identifying Prajna became Taijasa
25. Ishwara is now Hiranyagarbha

PANCHIKARANA
26. He made all Els partake of others
27. Panchikarana ½ +1/8th with each of the other1/8th(bhel-puri)

VAISHWANARA VISVAS
28. Cosmic Egg: Vaisvanara(total bodies) Taijasas to Visvas

JIVA THE WORMS, THEIR SALVATION
29. They see externals & Enjoy performing action
30. Worms:Go from birth whirlpool to whirlpool, no peace
31. When good deeds bear fruit, lifted to shore, to shade
32. They receive initiation from knower of Brahman & in Nishta

5 SHEATHS OR KOSHAS
33. Jiva enveloped in 5 koshas, transmigrates
34. Food sheath; vital airs & 5 organs of action vital sheath
35. mind and sensory organs mind sheath, intellect and 5 organs intellect sheath
36. causal body, mental vrithis, bliss sheath

VARIABLES ALL AND INVARIABLE SELF
37. anvaya & vyatireka, variable and invariable(self)
38. in dream state physical body is not seen; variable
39. in deep sleep subtle body not seen; variable
40. mind, intellect, pranas, are all variable
41. avidya is negated in deep sleep; variable
42. Munja grass; 5 sheaths or 3 bodies

THAT THOU ART
43. that thou art – sacred texts
44. Brahman is that
45. Jiva is thou
46. Brahman, is rejection of 3 aspects of maya(satva, impure satva, tamas)
47. This is that Devadhatta, this and that refers to time and place
48. when adjuncts Maya & avidya are negated Brahman alone remains

OBJECTION & REPLY
49. Obj: Brahman w/ attributes and w/o attributes
50. Qn involves logical fallacies
51. same fallacies in all objects
52. Self is untouched by these superimposition

SHRAVANA, MANANA, NIDHIDHYASANA, SAMADHI
53. shravana thru words like Tat-twamasi, validity by logical reasoning is manana
54. unbroken meditation is nidhidhyasana
55. object subject is erased and steady like a lamp in a breezeless state Samadhi
56. no subjective cognitive- will come to know after coming out of samadhi
57. Samadhi: Effort of will, previous merits, impression created thru constant efforts
58. Gita 6 19 same idea
59. Nirvikalpa Samadhi destroys results of millions of lives’ actions. Pure dharma grows
60. ‘ A rain cloud of dharma’ pours forth countless showers of bliss of dharma
61. network of desires destroyed; merits and demerits rooted out
62. gives rise to direct realization of truth as a fruit on palm
63. indirect knowledge from guru burns all sins
64. free from repeated birth, immediately attains to supreme bliss
